Marsh gets shot at world title

WELLING boxer Matthew Marsh will fight for the WBU world featherweight crown when he takes on title holder Derry Matthews at York Hall in Bethnal Green on October 13.

Marsh, who has Frank Warren as his promoter, has already picked up two belts – the Southern Area bantamweight and Southern Area featherweight – from his three years as a professional. He also won senior ABA titles as an amateur and was England’s number one flyweight for two years, competing at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002.

Matthews is undefeated in 18 fights. He won the WBU title from Stephen Foster junior,
