Midfielder in Hartsdown Park return

MARGATE boss Robin Trott has made his first signing, bringing former Hartsdown Park midfielder Paul Abbott back to the club on a one-year contract.

Tottenham-based Abbott, 23, is a former Heybridge Swifts team-mate of Trott, also previously at Erith & Belvedere, and made nine substitute appearances for Gate, under Chris Kinnear.

Trott said: "I have known Paul for a while, he is raw, fearless, has a good first touch, and can play wide on the right or left."

More new faces are expected, with Trott waiting for decisions on other targets. He said: "I spoke to one player on Sunday and he wants to come, but am just waiting for a few things to happen.

"The budget is very competitive and I can do a lot with it, but at the meoment it seems everyone is chasing the same players."

Negotiating is a new experience for the 31-year-old player-manager, but Trott added: "I am enjoying it selling the club and myself and hoping to attract the players I want to bring to Margate."
