Maidstone United continued their fine start to the campaign with a gutsy win at Ramsgate.
The Stones moved up to fourth in the table after a goal two minutes from time from sub Lloyd Blackman gave them an unlikely 2-1 victory.
Target man Meshach Nugent gave the visitors the lead in the seventh minute, firing past Jack Delo after some fine work from strike-partner James Pinnock.
Ramsgate got back into the game 10 minutes later when former Stones striker Mo Takaloo sent the impressive Andy Walker the wrong way from the spot after Ben Lewis had been penalised for handling an Aaron Firth shot in the box.
Stones right-back Nathan Paul was given a straight red-card after 39 minutes after a seemingly innocuous clash with Joe Dowley when Paul appeared to catch the left-back with his trailing leg.
After the break Ramsgate created the lion-share of chances but it was Blackman who stole the points, nodding home when the Rams failed to clear a Roland Edge cross from the left.
Ramsgate lie 16th in the table and have now lost all three home games by a single goal.
Dover Athletic made it five wins out of six by beating Horsham 2-1 at Crabble.
Trailing 1-0 at half-time to a 38th-minute Jacob Mingle goal, Whites manager Andy Hessenthaler brought on wide men Jerahl Hughes and Sam Jones in the second half and the home side took command.
But it needed two superbly-struck goals by midfielder Jon Wallis to breach the Horsham defence.
Margate suffered an early setback to earn a point in a 1-1 draw at Harlow.
Only two minutes had been played when Wayne Wilson was penalised for a tackle on the edge of the box and Harlow's Mark Taylor tucked away the spot-kick.
Margate suffered another blow when player-coach Paul Smith sustained a nasty blow to the face but in the closing stages Dan Young smashed home after sub Kenny Pratt had flicked on James Gregory's free-kick.
Tonbridge's disappointing start to the season continued when they let a two-goal advantage slip to lose 3-2 at 10-man Canvey Island.
Jamie Cade opened the scoring for the Angels and Carl Rook, back from injury, made it 2-0 five minutes before the break.
Canvey pulled one back a minute before half-time through Richard Halle and levelled shortly after half-time with a Craig Davison penalty to delight the majority of the 315 crowd.
Halle was sent off for violent conduct but the Gulls managed to steal the points with a David Lee free-kick eight minutes into stoppage time at the end of the game.
Former Dartford player Junior Kadi scored an injury-time winner to give Carshalton a 3-2 success at Princes Park.
Jamie Day’s spectacular opener had given Dartford a 72nd-minute lead, but 14 minutes later though they found themselves 2-1 behind.
A long stoppage to replace injured referee Stephen Child meant John Guest’s equaliser, to make it 2-2, didn’t come until the 93rd minute but 102 minutes were on the clock when Kadi struck the winner.
RESULTS: Tuesday: Canvey Island 3 Tonbridge Angels 2, Dartford 2 Carshalton Athletic 3, Dover Athletic 2 Horsham 1, Harlow Town 1 Margate 1, Ramsgate 1 Maidstone United 2.
