Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller is likely to need an operation at the end of the season to deal with a troublesome hernia injury.
Miller has continued playing despite the problem and manager Mark Stimson admitted that even he is having trouble keeping the midfielder from over-doing it.
“He’s a pest though as he won’t stop training,” said Stimson. “Some players at the club I can’t get out to train; they don’t want to be there. Adam Miller is the total opposite.
“He trained every day last week and I begged him to stop doing one session but he said to me, ‘Mark, I’m focused and I need to train and when I train I’m on my game and that keeps my fitness levels up.’
“Some people will say that I’m the manager and I can tell him not to train. He did only take part in one half session because I thought that was best but in the close season he’ll have to have something done properly but between now and then he’ll give his best.
“He’s only a booking away from a two game suspension and the way he plays is on the borderline. If that occurs it will give him a break anyway. He’ll keep going and he’ll never fade away from responsibility.”
