Dover Athletic made hard work of beating Skrill South basement club Dorchester Town 1-0 at Crabble on Saturday.
Whites were guilty of missing a series of chances, including a penalty and in the end had to rely on a first-half goal from Ricky Modeste to earn their second home league win of the season.
Modeste struck on the half hour mark when Dorchester keeper Alan Walker-Harris failed to gather a Barry Cogan free-kick and Modeste forced home the loose ball from close range.
Dover then had a great chance to double their lead minutes later when they were awarded a penalty after Nathan Elder was brought down in the area but Elder fired his spot kick straight at Walker-Harris.
That let-off appeared to lift Dorchester and they went close twice either side of the break but Whites then regained their earlier control only to continue their poor finishing.
