THE Invicta Dynamos started their Premier Cup campaign unfortunate not to get a point on the road, so will be hoping this weekend’s home game will be different.

On Sunday, fans will get to see a new player ice as they entertain Guildford Flames after narrowly losing 3-2 at Romford Raiders.

Coach Kevin Parrish said: "We have not played Guildford for years as they’ve been in the top-flight Findus British National League.

"It’s going to be a tough test as they are a classy outfit with and have an unbelievable roster that includes a former NHL player. They are probably one of the best run outfits in British ice hockey."

Playing up a division does not phase the Medway side with Parrish believing it helps the team in all area’s of their hockey.

He said: "It improves our fitness levels, picks up our game, improves our positional sense and helps us make less errors.

"For when you make mistakes against good English Premier League teams you get punished so you quickly learn from your mistakes."

On Wednesday, the club announced that they had released import Daniel Karlsson. Parrish said: "Unfortunately between myself and the agent we got the wrong type of player.

"Daniel’s game is far more defensive that I was expecting. I was looking for an out and out forward so felt it was best to let him go now and make a quick change to get the balance right."

So making his debut for the Dynamos on Sunday will be French-Canadian forward Donald Gagnon.

Parrish said: "He scored two goals against us in a challenge game at the start of the season for Peterborough Phantoms. He left there by mutual consent and we’re excited he’s joining us."

Last weekend against Romford, Perry Richardson gave the Mos a shock early lead on the powerplay at 2.07.

But three goals in the second period put the home side in the driving seat, despite Peter Beerling putting Invicta in front for a second time with another powerplay goal at 30.39. Dynamos’ stopper James Tanner was named man-of-the-match.

Parrish said: "I was very pleased with the performance, shutting out an EPL team for two periods is great.

"It was just a shame we lost concentration at the end of the second period and they scored two quick goals, but we will remember that and learn from it."
