Westcombe Park 22 Southend 21
WESTCOMBE PARK moved to the top of National League 2 after securing a narrow 22-21 win over Southend.
The visitors opened the scoring after 15 minutes before Combe pulled level when Adam Preocanin went over.
Preocanin added his second try after the break then Southend got a penalty through Andy Frost.
The home side extended their lead when James Whittingham raced on to a pass from Preocanin to grab another try. Whittingham added the extras.
Frost scored from another penalty and Southend then took the lead when Richard Gill’s try was converted by Frost. The away side were awarded another penalty which Frost duly converted.
But Combe had the last laugh when Sam Naden run in from 20-yards to give the hosts a one point victory.
