Black Lion Swimming Club captain Andy Jones has been crowned national champion after winning the 200m backstroke at the ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships in Sheffield.
Jones won the race after recording a time of 2.14.12. He made the trip to Sheffield alongside vice-captain Dan Wood, with the pair both performing well.
The event got off to a great start with Jones recording two new personal bests in the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke. This meant he finished 15th and third respectively and collected a bronze medal in the process.
Wood finished just a shade outside his personal best as he took 13th in the 50m breaststroke. He then followed this up by finishing eighth in the 100m breaststroke.
Jones then recorded a new personal best in the 100m freestyle as he finished 18th.
Wood then competing in the 100m individual medley, where he acheived a new personal best and finished sixth.
Club captain Jones followed this with a fifth place finish in the 50m backstroke.
Wood won a bronze medal in the 200m individual medley. The last swim saw Jones compete in the 50m butterfly, where he finished 14th with a new personal best time of 27.80 seconds.
