CHARLTON'S new striker Marcus Bent is set to make his debut against runaway Premiership leaders Chelsea on Sunday.

The 27-year-old has warned the team that they will have to be in Chelsea's faces if they are to get extract any reward from the trip to Stamford Bridge.

The striker signed a three-and-a half year deal after Charlton agreed a £2.5 million deal with Everton on Monday night.

Bent, who was in the Everton side that held Chelsea 1-1 at Goodison Park in October, said: "The secret of getting anything out of Chelsea is that you have to be in their faces. They have so many quality players and if you give them time on the ball they will create lots of chances.

"You've got to be hard with them, you have to be physical and most of all work hard as a team."

"But the pace that Charlton have up front plus the way Darren Bent's knocking in the goals we must have a chance."

London-born Marcus Bent, who made 42 appearances for Everton last season operating mainly as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 formation, scored seven goals in helping the club to Champions League qualification.

He admitted his thirst for regular first team football was a major factor in his return South, though manager Alan Curbishley disclosed that Everton were reluctant sellers.

Bent added: "I was speaking to the manager at the weekend and he was telling me what he has planned for the future and what he wants to be doing.

"I wanted to move on and better myself and I believe that with Charlton I can achieve a lot."
