FORMER Swindon boss Steve McMahon is rumoured to have been interviewed for the vacant manager’s position at Gillingham.
McMahon was at the Priestfield for Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest and is believed to have been questioned by the club about taking the hot seat at the end of last week.
Ex-England international McMahon began his playing career at Everton, but made his name as the driving force behind Liverpool’s midfield during Kenny Dalglish's time as manager.
Meanwhile, fans' favourite Micky Adams, denied speculation he had been offered the job.
The former Priestfield crowd-favourite was cagey over what would be an emotional return the club he served so well as a player in the early 1980s.
He said: “I’ve had a brief chat with the Gillingham chairman Paul Scally about the job but that’s all. To say that I’ve been offered the job is wide of the mark.
“At the moment I’m considering all my options because my next job has to be the right one.”
Unlike McMahon, Adams was not at the Priestfield on Saturday. He preferred instead to watch another of his former clubs Southampton in action against Crystal Palace.
