GILLS caretaker boss Iffy Onuora has reiterated that he would take the manager’s job on a full-time basis.
Onuora has been in temporary charge since the departure of Ronnie Jepson in early September, initially with Mick Docherty but on his own for the last three weeks after Docherty left the club.
In that time, the Gills have stabilised their home form with three wins and two draws, although they are yet to pick up a point away.
Chairman Paul Scally has interviewed a number of candidates for the post but as yet no-one has been appointed.
Onuora said on Thursday morning: "If someone says to me we would like you to take the job on full-time, then of course I would be delighted and honoured. I can’t get away from that. I’d be lying if I said otherwise.
"But that’s maybe another conversation for another time. Unless that happens, it’s only ever going to be speculation.
"I’m taking it day by day. If I’m being positive, which I’m trying to be, the signs have been better in the last few weeks.
"Hopefully, by doing it well, it doesn’t do any harm, but we know that the chairman has interviewed external candidates and we’ll know what happens eventually."
