Pain in the neck for Patterson

A MYSTERY injury threatens to keep Gillingham's Mark Patterson out of Saturday's big match away to Manchester City. Patterson, who has fought back from a series of injuries, including a broken leg, to establish himself in the side this season, was forced out of Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Burnley after 71 minutes.

The defender said: "I was feeling a lot of pain in my neck and it may well be related to a nerve problem. It's a complete mystery."

Meanwhile, Gillingham will be without the impressive J-Lloyd Samuel for the home game against Crystal Palace on November 21 following his call-up to the England Under-20 side to face Portugal at Southampton.
