NEW manager Alan Pardew has re-assured Charlton supporters that top-scorer Darren Bent is staying put and will not be moving in the January window.
The England international striker, who responded with his first goal since November 4 after being handed the captain’s armband by Pardew before Wednesday’s 2-2 home draw with Fulham, has been the subject of constant transfer speculation.
Pardew insisted: “Darren Bent is absolutely essential to this club and it’s essential that we keep him fit and well. He will definitely be staying at this club through the next window and will be carrying the fight for us."
The manager stressed: "He is such an important player for the rest of the lads in the squad because he sets the right example.”
