CHARLTON manager Alan Pardew is in no rush to decide the future of Jody Morris.

Former Chelsea and Millwall midfielder Morris played more than an hour for the Addicks as they overcame Blue Square South neighbours Welling on Wednesday night.

"I haven't really set a time limit on it," said Pardew. "I'm not sure (when I will make a decision)."

Morris played alongside another trialist, midfielder Dean Sinclair, and gave Pardew plenty to ponder with an impressive display.

"I thought they both performed well," said Pardew. "We will sit down and discuss them and see what we think."

Charlton ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals in either half from Luke Varney and Chris Dickson.

The Addicks fielded a strong team in the first half but new strikers Varney and Svetoslav Todorov failed to click.

It took until first-half stoppage time for Varney to make his mark, turning in the rebound after Martin Christensen's shot had been blocked by keeper Jamie Turner.

A crowd of 3,500 saw Welling substitute Andy Martin see his shot cleared off the line after the break and Dickson completed the win late on after rounding substitute keeper Chris May.

The Addicks lost keeper to Darren Randolph and Varney to injury but they were withdrawn more as a precaution. Pardew also introduced Danish trialist Nicholas Pedersen as a second-half substitute.

Charlton also fielded a team at Tooting on the same evening and ran out 5-0 winners with Marcus Bent and Chris Iwelumo (2) among the scorers.
