Charlton v Sheffield United
JAMES BEATTIE arrives with his Sheffield United side at Charlton on Tuesday night with a ringing endorsement from Addicks manager Alan Pardew.
Since his summer arrival from Premier League Everton, the former England international has wasted no time in acclimatising to the Championship with 11 goals in 17 league games.
"I was pleased to see that James Beattie took the decision to step down from the Premier League because he's a player nearing his prime." said Pardew. "I thought it a brave decision because there are a number of players in the Premier League who are redundant, who are dormant in their respective squads.
"They could be a bit braver and come down and show what they are about. If you do as James Beattie has done, you can only enhance your reputation."
Pardew is convinced that the Blades occupy a false position, lying in 14th position.
He explained: "Bryan Robson is a very good manager and they boast a strong squad. He's finding out as he goes along and there is no doubt in my mind that they will be involved in the final shake-up.
"That's the team who will do better in the second part of the season."
Pardew looks set to name an unchanged side for a fifth consecutive match while goalkeeper Nicky Weaver will be determined to keep a fifth consecutive clean sheet. The match kicks off at 8pm.
