Invicta Dynamos' head coach Kevin Parrish has dedicated his team’s victory at Streatham on Sunday to the club’s supporters after their positive vibes helped them turn round a two-goal first-intermission deficit into a 5-2 success.
Parrish is hoping for more of the same this weekend as his charges cross the border into Wales on Saturday to face Cardiff in the league, before taking on Milton Keynes at the Ice Bowl in the cup on Sunday.
"The Streatham win has to be dedicated to our fans," he said. "They were fantastic from start to finish. Even when we left the ice after 20 minutes having played our worst hockey of the season, they were still encouraging us.
"Hopefully, we’ll have more of the same in Cardiff this weekend. And if they can carry that kind of support into the home game on Sunday we will be more than grateful."
After Joe Johnston’s two goals put Invicta in all kinds of trouble in south London, the visitors’ comeback was almost too good to be true.
Two goals in nine seconds from Milan Kostolny and Elliot Andrews levelled proceedings before Karl Lennon, Adam Copland and Laurence Billing made the game safe with time to spare.
Jamie Dancey’s head injury was the only negative to come from the evening, and Parrish’s admits the former Cardiff player won’t be risked this weekend.
"Jamie is gutted to be missing out on a return to Cardiff," he said. "But we have to put his health and well-being ahead of anything else.
"He has suffered with a couple of concussions in the past and it really isn’t worth the risk. "Laurence Billing will step up to replace Jamie, and the way he is playing at the moment I don’t think its a bad swap at all."
Glen Jackson and Ian Rowlands will split the netminding duties this weekend as Invicta look to avenge the 6-4 defeat suffered at the hands of Cardiff on September 21, before going all out to record a third straight win over Milton Keynes.
