OVERNIGHT rain and a mid-morning deluge led to the loss of 88 overs and a 5.30pm start time on day three of Kent's championship match with Surrey in Canterbury.

Some 154 overs have been lost to rain in the opening three days of this rain-ruined game and a draw seems the only likely outcome with more showers forecast for Saturday’s final day.

In the 19 overs possible on day three, Surrey moved their first innings on from 263 to 337 For six with the loss of their captain Jonathan batty for 46.

He was bowled by Min Patel when advancing down the track to drive just 12 overs after the resumption.

Ali Brown saw the visitors through to stumps on 44 not out in tandem with Azhar Mahomood’s unbeaten 19 that gave Surrey an overall lead of 111 in the match.
