GILLINGHAM defender Mark Patterson has received the all-clear to carry on playing following a scan on a shoulder injury. At one stage, the player was concerned that he had contracted multiple sclerosis.

Meanwhile, Gillingham centre-back Barry Ashby has become a father for the first time. His partner has given birth to a boy. The couple are thinking of calling him Harrison.

Gills have appointed Neil Carter as financial director. He succeeds Roger Maddams who left the club last month.
