Welling United v Clevedon Town

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has called on the club’s supporters to cheer their team into the first round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Wings host Southern League Premier Division Clevedon Town at Park View Road in the fourth qualifying round. But Pennock has warned that it will not be as easy as many people are predicting.

He said: "I keep hearing people talking about who we want in the first round and that’s ridiculous. Clevedon are not going to come here and roll over, it’s the FA Cup and it means a lot to everyone.

"We need our supporters to turn up in their numbers and really get behind the team. They were inspirational at AFC Hornchurch in the previous round, especially in the first half, and we need that kind of support vocally again."

Welling reached the first round last season before bowing out away to League 1 Huddersfield Town, a day that still holds fond memories for the current squad.

Pennock added: "We’re desperate to get into the first round but it is not a forgone conclusion. We loved it all last year, the whole football club did."

Pennock will welcome back club captain Chris Moore after he was rested for the 5-0 win over Bedford last Saturday, but Keith Rowland (calf) is doubtful.
