PENNOCK: says he has no intention of letting the defender leave

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has dismissed reports that defender James Smith has left the club.

The talented centre-back recently put pen to paper on an 18-month contract at Park View Road but speculation mounted that he had joined Conference South rivals Bishop's Stortford. However, Pennock stated that his centre-back is going nowhere.

"I've heard nothing about it and have no intention of letting James go," said Pennock.

"As far as I'm aware James is happy to be with Welling and I'm pleased to have him here."
