WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has made his first major move in the transfer market by snapping up centre-back Ben Lewis from St Albans.

The 29-year-old joined St Albans from Bishop's Stortford in January and helped them achieve promotion to the Nationwide Conference.

Lewis will add further competition at the heart of a Welling defence that leaked 14 goals in their first eight matches with just one clean sheet.

Lewis could make his debut at Eastbourne Borough tonight (Tuesday).
