Pennock's desperate search for new faces

PENNOCK: "...it's not for the want of trying"

WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has revealed his frustrations in trying to bring new players to Park View Road.

The Wings won their FA Trophy tie at Basingstoke with a threadbare squad on Saturday with Pennock having to name himself as a substitute.

He said: "I spoke to 12 clubs last week to get a player in but the Conference clubs wouldn’t let their players get cup-tied and the league clubs had injuries late in the week.

"It was frustrating as I wanted to bolster the numbers with so many players out."

* Wings have been drawn at home to Redbridge or Harrow Borough, who both play in Ryman League, Premier Division, in the FA Trophy first round.
