WELLING manager Adrian Pennock has given up hope of signing Gillingham youngster Luke Howell on loan again.

Right-back Howell, 19, enjoyed a successful nine-game loan spell at Park View Road last season before he was recalled by the Gills.

Pennock said: "I've enquired about Luke Howell again but (manager) Ronnie Jepson and Gillingham have told me that the only place he'll be going on loan is Folkestone."
