ENTRIES are sought for a Memorial Golf Day in honour of popular sportsman Nick Delo.

Mr Delo - who died in 2005 aged 55 - played cricket for Kent and England as a schoolboy and was a well-known figure on the east Kent football scene having played for teams including Whitstable, Chislet, Blean and Rising Sun.

He was also a familiar face for many thanks to his sandwich business.

The event will be held at Chestfield Golf Club on Friday, September 28, and will take the form of an individual 18-hole Stableford with a 3/4 handicap allowance.

There will be a maximum of 72 players admitted and prizes will be given to the top three finishers, the best gross score, nearest the pins and longest drive.

Entry to the competition costs £45 with the proceeds going to the Nick Delo Memorial Fund.

Last year an inaugral competition at Herne Bay’s Eddington course raised more than £700 for charity.

Entry forms and information are available from www.cdtgolf.com. For more information call Neil Brown on 07885 359964.
