Jamie Allan is considering his future as AFC Sheppey’s manager after Saturday’s controversial 3-2 promotion play-off defeat by Stansfeld O&B Club.
Three players were sent off, two from Stansfeld, in a fiery finale as the north Kent side scored twice in the closing minutes to secure a place in the British Energy Kent County League’s Premier Division.
Allan alleged he was threatened by a Stansfeld official at the end and has submitted a complaint to the league.
“I feel utterly exasperated because I believe we were let down by the league,” he said.
“I feel so strongly that I’m seriously considering my future and I’ll take a few days to think about things.”
The match between Sheppey, runners-up in Division 1 East, and Division 1 West runners-up Stansfeld was played at the Phoenix Sports Ground in Bexleyheath, which surprised Allan.
He said: “The facilities, especially our dressing-room, were appalling and the grass hadn’t been cut. So the pitch left a lot to be desired.
“Surely the league could have found a better ground to have staged such an important game?”
Stansfeld took a first half lead which they held until midway through the second period when Ricky Whiting set up brother Lenny for the equaliser.
Andy Keay’s free-kick then gave Sheppey a 2-1 lead with seven minutes remaining.
Ashley Vail’s own goal drew Stansfeld level before they snatched victory with a disputed winner which Sheppey claimed was offside.
There followed a flare-up which saw Matt Whiting sent off with two Stansfeld players.
