Gillingham 0 – 0 Yeovil Town

TEN-man Gillingham had to settle for a point after a tame goalless draw against Yeovil Town at Priestfield on Saturday.

Matt Jarvis went close twice for Gillingham in the opening 45 minutes, shooting wide when well placed and then forcing Yeovil keeper Chris Weale into a fine save.

The visitors offered little in the first half and their best chances came from set pieces.

The game improved slightly after the break and both sides had chances to break the deadlock.

For Yeovil, Phil Jevons hit a free kick wide and skipper Terry Skiverton should have done much better than send a free header sailing over the crossbar.

Neil Harris had Gillingham’s best chance but he could only head straight at keeper Chris Weale after Tom Williams’ fine cross from the left.

Gillingham were forced to play the last 16 minutes with 10 men after substitute Moses Ashikodi saw red for two bookable offences.

First, he was cautioned for dangerous play after catching Darren way in the head with his boot while attempting an overhead kick. Then, just five minutes later he went through the back of Skiverton to give the referee little option but to give him his marching orders.

Gillingham: Crichton, Rose, Johnson, Hope, Williams, Hessenthaler (Ashikodi h-t), Crofts, Flynn (Saunders 61), Jackman (Spiller 61), Jarvis, Harris.
Subs Not Used: Knowles, Wallis.
