Gillingham players will swap their frozen Beechings Cross training ground for more palatial surroundings today.

Mark Stimson has used his Tottenham connections to arrange a day’s training for his squad at the Premier League’s Chigwell-based facility.

Stimson, a former coach with Tottenham’s academy, was keen to find a suitable place for his team to train after their current base was frozen out.

“It’s great for us to use their facilities,” said Stimson. “At the moment our facilities are unplayable, the ground is rock hard, so we asked Tottenham if we could use theirs and they obliged and that’s great for us.

“It will be a nice change for the players and the most important thing is that they’ve got a full size indoor pitch there and we can have a really good session.”
