Welling v Bromley

Moments of quality in the final third will determine Welling's fate in the second half of the season, according to manager Andy Ford.

The Wings aim to complete the double over rivals Bromley in Blue Square South on New Year's Day after a late rally saw them run out 3-1 Boxing Day winners at Hayes Lane.

Welling needed excellent finishes from 14-goal Charlie Sheringham and Tony Sinclair to steer them to three points. Ford said: "We need to try and get that kind of quality ealier in games, although our second-half performance at Bromley was a vast improvement of late.

"I asked for a touch of quality at half-time - that was the only thing that was going to win the game for us.

"It was a great goal from Charlie and a great header by Tony, that's what I'm looking for more of now."

The Wings have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the derby but Ford is expecting Bromley to respond from the first encounter.

"It won't be easy as they will be coming out with something to prove," he added.

"It will be a completely different game and we've got to be on the ball from the first whistle."

The game at Park View Road will kick-off at 3pm.
