SOUTHERN League Premier Division King’s Lynn have joined the race to sign Welling striker Paul Booth.
The club’s leading marksmen is keen on a move to a club closer to his Peterborough base and the Wings have already turned down bids of £2,000 from Heybridge Swifts and Cambridge City.
Heybridge have pulled out of the race for Booth but Cambridge are expected to renew their interest when City boss Gary Roberts returns from holiday.
Wings boss Adrian Pennock said: "There have been no new offers for Paul but I’ve spoken to King’s Lynn manager Tommy Taylor and they are interested.
"But I’ve always said that I want him to stay. I’m reluctant to lose him because he is a top striker but I have to take his needs into consideration."
Pennock is still waiting on a decision from popular midfielder Martin Carthy, who has again asked for more time to decide where his future lies.
Folkestone defender John Guest has been touted as a possible replacement for outgoing defender James Smith.
But Pennock, who has already invited another centre-back to pre-season training with the club, has played down his interest.
Pennock said: "I haven’t hidden the fact that I like Guest but I spoke to Folkestone at the start of the summer and they want to keep him at their club."
Meanwhile, Welling have added a further pre-season match, away to Bromley on Friday, August 5.
Tickets for Welling’s pre-season friendly against Charlton at Park View Road go on sale from Monday from the ground, priced £10 adults, £5 concessions and £2 extra for seating.
