Rams boss holds no fears

Staines v Ramsgate

Ramsgate manager Jim Ward insists he won’t be losing any sleep as they prepare for their toughest week of the season in the Ryman League Premier Division.

Ward’s side are away to second-placed Staines Town on Saturday before hosting runaway leaders Dover Athletic at Southwood on January 31.

With Ramsgate sixth from bottom, following last Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Wealdstone, the prospect of taking on the top two in successive games could leave Ward feeling distinctly nervous.

But he insisted: “We’ve got nothing to worry about because we played well against Wealdstone and should have won. Our supporters came up to me after the game to shake my hand and congratulate the team on their performance, and they haven’t done that many times at Southwood this season.”

Ward will have a full squad available for the trip to Staines, whose slim chance of catching Dover faded further at the weekend when they were held to a goalless draw at Dartford.
