Rams determined to fight to the end

Ramsgate boss Jim Ward is refusing to admit defeat in their relegation scrap, despite Ramsgate needing a minor miracle to prolong their three- year stay in the Ryman League Premier Division.

Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Tooting and Mitcham left the Rams joint bottom, 10 points adrift of safety with five games remaining. However, Ward remains defiant.

He said: "It’s never over until it’s over. Every man at this club will be fighting right to the end.

"We face Harlow this Saturday and we must get three points. We’ve got games left that we can win thereafter. We must get above Heybridge, Margate and Harlow and then hope for another team to be dragged down too."

Three first-half goals finished off Ward’s men on Saturday, as the Rams once again paid for mistakes in their final third.

Ward said: "That’s the story of our season. We matched them for 25 minutes then within 15 minutes the game was out of reach. It’s disappointing because we have some talented players at the club."
