THE first Ramsgate/Margate derby of the season ended with a 2-0 win for the Rams.

While Margate's pedigree made them favourites for this first meeting of the season, with Ramsgate only being promoted to the Ryman League Premier Division last year, it was the boys from Southwood who finished the evening celebrating.

Segregation was introduced to the crowd for the match, in the Westview Isthmian League Cup, although the only flare up of the night was on the pitch when all 22 players were involved in a brief rumpus.

The match was entering the final quarter when Michael Yianni scored from a header, and the game was sealed when Shaun Welford slotted home a penalty in the dying minutes.
