The player at the centre of the Ramsgate points deduction has admitted he feels guilty after they lost their appeal.
Goalkeeper Jamie Turner played for Ramsgate on loan from Welling in December before finally completing a permanent move - but he was the third loan player in the side when league rules state that only two are allowed to play.
"I do feel it's on my shoulders now," said Turner. "But I know it's not my fault.
"I was told we had done it all by the rulebook so it's gutting to have lost the appeal.
"Now we've lost the points it's going to be even harder to stay up.
"But all the players can do is give 100 per cent and fight to get out of it."
Ramsgate were docked four points by the Ryman League but lost their appeal to the Football Association on Monday afternoon.
It means they drop below rivals Margate in the Premier Division table and are now six points off relegation with seven games left.
Turner added: "We've still got enough quality to get out of it but we need to do the nitty-gritty in games.
"There was already a them and us attitude in some ways and that's something I'm thriving on as well.
"It was a black cloud hanging over us but now it's finally over we can push on and get out of trouble."
