THE future of Charlton defender Danny Mills hangs in the balance after the seventh red card of his career reduced the Addicks to 10-men for the final 18 minutes of Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Hull City.

Mills, whose loan from Premier League Manchester City ends at the end of the month, was shown a straight red after using foul and abusive language to referee Anthony Bates.

"I'm going to talk with my chairman Richard Murray and my assistant Phil Parkinson and absorb the events of today," said manager Alan Pardew.

"In all honesty, I don't want my team to act in that manner.

"Danny Mills is a someone who plays on the edge but that doesn't excuse what happened today.

"He's got to be big enough and bold enough to take that on the chin."

Mills, who had just returned from a one-match suspension, will be fined and disciplined by the club, Pardew confirmed.

He now misses the next three games and now looks almost certain to return to Manchester City.

Charlton were rescued by central defender Madjid Bougherra's first goal for the club in the 58th minute.

He came through unmarked to shoot into the roof of the net after Hull failed to clear Jerome Thomas's free-kick.

The goal equalised Hull's 37th minute lead given them by Frazier Campbell.

The draw was Charlton's first in 13 games.
