Charlton v Blackburn
CHARLTON boss Les Reed welcomes the early opportunity to right the wrongs of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United when Blackburn visit The Valley tonight for the first of four home games he regards as crucial to the club's survival prospects.
"There are a lot of things we need to put right after Saturday but we're all pleased that we can go straight into another game rather than spend the week pondering about what went wrong at Bramall Lane," said Reed. "We need to win our home games so we can improve the confidence when we go away from home.
"We have four home games coming up and need to maximise that opportunity. If we can pick points up at home, then we can carry that confidence into our away games.
"It's still a long season and it's important that we take things step by step. It will take time before we're out of trouble.
"We have a problem with confidence which comes from being at the bottom of the league. I believe the squad is capable of getting the club out of trouble, though there are areas which need strengthening. We hope to address those areas in the January transfer window."
Reed must decide whether or not to recall fit-again central defender Souleymane Diawara or name an unchanged side for a third successive match.
Tonight's match sees a confrontation between master and pupil as Reed guided Blackburn boss Mark Hughes through his coaching badges.
