Gillingham 3 - 0 Swindon Town

MANAGER Ronnie Jepson is yet to taste defeat on home soil after another impressive Priestfield performance saw Gillingham beat Swindon 3-0 on Saturday.

Jepson said: "It was an important three points. Iffy (Onuora) had his side fired up, they were a big side and were physical, and I thought we matched them.

“We started with a smashing tempo. Maybe we could have scored a few more before the break but we were happy with 1-0 and Jason Brown pulled off a great save at the back stick.

"I felt that we upped it a little in the second half and we were worthy winners in the end."

The win was Jepson’s fifth home success since taking charge, although he’s wary of that run coming to an end.

He said: "Everyone’s looking for us to fall on our face at home because we’ve got such a good record and people are expecting us to lose sooner rather than later.

"It was important we didn’t lose this game and you’ve got to give Iffy’s lads full credit, they kept at it.

"From one to 11 the work ethic and togetherness of the team as a whole was top drawer and I was pleased for the lads. We dug in for each other, everyone worked hard and we got the result we deserved."

Jepson’s side, however, have yet to win on away soil this season but the boss remains positive, having seen a marked improvement on their away performances.

He said: "I don’t think the performances have been that bad away from home, the results haven’t been the best, but I think at Huddersfield and Barnsley we could take a lot of heart from. If we can just keep this home form up then the future looks a bit brighter."
