Revenge in October for Armour?

JOHNNY ARMOUR: hurt by loss of his title

KENT boxer Johnny Armour could get the chance to avenge his defeat by Nathan Sting and reclaim the WBU bantamweight belt as early as October.

Negotiations are already underway between the two parties for a re-match in late October or early November at either Bethnal Green or Brentwood.

Steve Hyland, from Armour’s promoters Munro and Hyland, said that talks were progressing and they hoped to have something confirmed in the next 10 days.

He said: “Sting wants to fight Nicky Booth (British champion), not Johnny again, but we’re just waiting to talk to the WBU and hopeful we can get them in to the ring again.”

Armour, 34, from Chatham, has been hurt by the loss of the title and is keen to get another crack at the Australian.

He said: “The report in the Medway Messenger newspaper was spot on - “Will the real Johnny Armour please stand up” - because he wasn’t there on Saturday but he will be next time.

“I owe him (Sting) one and there will be no mistakes. It’s really starting to hit home, the fact I’m not champion and I’m going to get it back and then go on from there.”
