HONOURS in the 2nd Stelling Minnis 10k went to Folkestone Running Club’s Sam Rigby, with the women’s crown claimed by Gill Senior of Ashford and District Roadrunners.
The event, organised by East Kent Clic Supporters, attracted 159 runners, below expectations, but still ensured a competitive race.
Rigby has been in consistent form this year and showed his class by setting a course record of 34 minutes 21 seconds and going one better than last year when he finished in second place beating his previous time by over a minute.
Second was team-mate David Weekes with 36:27 and third Ashford and District’s super vet Pat Butler in 36:40.
Senior clocked 44:18 in taking the women’s honours with Ashford and District also taking the ladies team prize.
All the money raised from the event goes to CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity. It is hoped to donate more than £1,300.
The event was supported by Canterbury Harriers who provided the race expertise to run the race.
