Rob asked to play key England role

ROB KEY: Selectors can no longer ignore the country's form batsman

KENT'S Rob Key has been selected in the England team to play the West Indies today in the NatWest triangular tournament.

The right-hander has been in superb form for his county this season and was the first player to reach 1,000 first-class runs. There have been several appeals for his inclusion by experts and it seems the selectors feel they can no longer ignore him.

It is hoped he might be the man to resurrect England's chances of a final place after a poor showing in their last two games.

England have been humilated by seven wickets by both New Zealand and the Windies and need a positive result to keep their hopes of reaching the final alive.
