Gillingham v Bristol City
GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson has spoken with real passion about the FA Cup as he prepares his squad for Sunday's second round tie at Bristol City.
Jepson has made no secret of the fact the league campaign is his priority. However, he said the world famous cup competition was still close to his heart.
He stressed: "I love the FA Cup. It’s a great competition and Sunday provides a real opportunity for the lads to go out and express themselves.
"It’s a one-off game and the fact they could get to play somewhere like Old Trafford in the third round is a real motivational tool.
"The club needs a cup run to help with finances but you can’t talk to players about money. They just want to play well and get into the draw for the next round.
"Bristol City are a good side but we learned a lot about them in our league game the other week and we know we can compete with them."
After Sunday's second round tie, the Gillingham squad will return to Kent but will then head off to face Port Vale on Tuesday night when they will be in search of their fourth win in five League 1 games.
