Charlton were frustrated by a rookie goalkeeper making his Championship debut as a last-minute replacement in a 0-0 draw with Wigan on Sunday.
Lee Nicholls stepped in when ex-England keeper Scott Carson suffered an ankle injury in the warm-up and went on to make a number of fine saves to deny the Addicks victory.
Bradley Pritchard was twice frustrated early on before Nicholls' finest work saw him keep out Richard Wood's header from a Dale Stephens corner when the Charlton man looked certain to score.
Addicks continued to threaten after the break, Stephens' thumping effort from 20 yards only inches wide.
But Wigan improved, with Chris McCann heading Ben Watson's corner against the bar before Addicks keeper Ben Hamer kept out Leon Barnett's low strike.
James McArthur fired over late on, then Wood blocked Grant Holt's goalbound effort as the match finished goalless.
The draw leaves Charlton 19th in the Championship on 11 points.
