YOUNG Gillingham defender Richard Rose, who came on as a sub for the injured David Perpetuini at Burnley last weekend, is set to keep his place on Saturday against a Manchester City team chasing a third club record.

The present City side have already broken the existing club record for wins and points gained in a season. They currently have 29 league wins this season, beating the previous record of 26 set in both the 1946-47 season and the 1999-2000 campaign.

Last week's win over Barnsley put City on 93 points, beating the total of 89 set by Joe Royle's side in the 1999-2000 season.

Saturday's five goals against Barnsley brought City's league tally to 102, six short of the club record 108 set in the 1926-27 season.

Gillingham supporters have the opportunity to give a warm farewell to former England defender Stuart Pearce who retires at the end of the season. The left-back is stuck on 99 league goals at club level and will be looking for his 100th at Priestfield.
