Rougier ruins Gillingham's day

Gillingham 0 - Reading 1

GILLINGHAM got exactly what they deserved from this battle - nothing. Andy Hessenthaler's side looked a shadow of the side that took the league by storm at the start of the season.

They looked disjointed and lacked the invention to really cause Reading problems.

Neither side had a clear-cut chance in the first half until near the end when Jason Brown made stunning flying saves from Nicky Forster and John Salako.

Gills were also poor after the break and just couldn't find the way through.

And they were made to pay eight minutes from the end. Forster wriggled his way into the box and squared the ball and substitute Tony Rougier put the ball home.

Mama Sidebe squandered Gills' best chance a minute from the end of normal time when he skewed his shot wide with just the keeper to beat.
