GILLINGHAM’S record of just one clean sheet this season is simply not good enough for keeper Simon Royce.

Royce scooped the Medway Messenger September player of the month award and he’s hoping for a quieter season from now on.

“It’s nice to see that people appreciate what you’ve been doing,” he said.

“I’m now looking to keep a few more clean sheets as that’s something I’ve prided myself on throughout my career. It’s not nice to have just one.”
