KENT pair Catherine Spencer and Amy Garnett will play for England against New Zealand in the Women’s World Cup final in Edmonton on Sunday.

They both figured in Tuesday’s 20-14 semi-final win over host nation Canada, while the Black Ferns beat France 40-10, to set up a repeat of the 2002 final which England lost 19-9 in Barcelona.

Folkestone-born No 8 forward Spencer, 27, now based in Bristol, started the game while hooker Amy, 30, who plays for Saracens, got her chance as a 73rd minute replacement.

Catherine said: "At times I have to stop and pinch myself to believe I am playing for England in the World Cup."

Head coach Graham Richards said: "Everyone has worked really hard for this, and now we have the opportunity to have another stab at winning the World Cup."

Catherine and Amy both started the opening match against the United States last week which England won 18-0. England then beat South Africa 74-8 before a 27-8 quarter-final win over France.
