Defender Robbie Ryan has left Welling after failing to agree a new deal at Park View Road.

The former Millwall defender was offered a new deal by Wings boss Andy Ford at the end of last season. But the Welling manager has had to continue his rebuilding plans without him.

Ford confirmed: "Robbie has left and I wish him well for the future as he served us well at the end of last season."

Skipper Richard Carpenter could find himself in a similar situation. He has been offered a new deal but has yet to make a decision - and time could run out on him if Ford finalises his squad before he gets a positive reply.

Ford added: "He still hasn't come back to me so it's up in the air at the moment."
