Ryman League round-up

TONBRIDGE Angels consolidated their place at the top of Ryman League Division 1 with a 7-0 thrashing of Newport IOW.

Tony Dolby's side were 4-0 up by half-time after goals by Dolby himself, Ray Powell, Luke Piscina and Leroy Huggins.

And there was no let up after the break as another Powell strike and a brace from Nick Barnes completed the scoring.

To rub salt into Newport's wounds, David Greening missed a penalty in stoppage time which would have given his side a consolation.

Dover Athletic kept pace with the leaders with a 2-1 win at Metropolitan Police. First half goals from Anthony Hogg and Tommy Tyne did the damage.

But it wasn't such good news for Ashford Town, who went down 2-0 at Croydon Athletic.

In the Ryman League Premier Division, Margate ended a club record run of eight straight draws with victory against Wealdstone at Hartsdown Park.

Adolf Amoako scored the only goal of the game.
