TONBRIDGE Angels were celebrating on Saturday after an impressive 2-0 win at Ryman League Division 1 high-flyers Tooting & Mitcham.
The home side were trying to extend a nine-game winning run, but Angels took the lead after 21 minutes when Nick Barnes scored from the spot after Ryan Gray had handled Darren Smith's corner. Gray was dismissed for the offence.
Despite being a man down it was Tooting who piled on the pressure after the break and Tonbridge had goalkeeper Jerome John to thank for six or seven superb saves to preserve their advantage.
And with their only chance of the second half the visitors sealed the victory when Smith smashed in a spectacular volley from 25 yards 10 minutes from time.
However it was disappointment for Ramsgate went down 1-0 to Walton Casuals at Southwood.
The only goal of the game came from the penalty spot in first half stoppage time. Greg Ball made no mistake from 12 yards after Ollie Schulz had brought him down in the box.
Danny Andrews kept the home side out on several occasions after the break but Jim Ward's side ran out of ideas in the last 10 minutes as Walton were happy to hold onto their lead.
Stefan Ball was sent off for a second bookable offence in the last minute to complete Ramsgate's misery.
A 69th-minute Gary Clarke goal looked to have given all three points to Ashford Town against Banstead Athletic at Homelands, but the visitors earned a share of the spoils when Simon Huckle equalised with 10 minutes to play.
Cray Wanderers enjoyed a fine 6-2 win at Newport IOW.
Bromley surrendered a two-goal lead and all three points at home against Slough Town in the Ryman League Premier Division.
First half strikes by Kevin George and Jones Awuah seemingly had the home side cruising to victory at the break, but the game turned when the impressive Sam Wood was stretchered off.
Slough were soon back on level terms and completed their comeback in the second minute of stoppage time.
Folkestone Invicta were beaten at struggling Windsor & Eton by a 78th-minute Jon Case goal.
In an early kick-off, Margate were soundly beaten by East Thurrock United.
Early goals from Steve West and Danny Harris and another by Martin Tuohy put the home side three goals to the good before Hasim Dean scored a late consolation for Chris Kinneaer's men.
Dover Athletic's Division 1 clash against Kingstonian at Crabble was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
