Martin Saggers is concentrating on matters on the pitch, despite being the county’s 2009 beneficiary.
The former England seamer has a busy programme of events off the field, but it is taking the wickets that will fire Kent back into Division 1 of the LV County Championship that is occupying his thoughts.
He said: "I have got to forget about the benefit and concentrate on the games because obviously the focus is on Kent getting back up into Division 1.
"The onus for me is to get wickets in the Championship and try to get us up there."
The 36-year-old says he is keen to improve on the way he bowled during 2008.
"I didn’t get as many wickets as I had hoped so I want to get a few more this year," he said.
"As you get older your bowling does change and you perhaps lose a yard or two of pace and things like that.
"But I feel as though I am fitter than I was and I have worked hard on that because you have got to stay strong as long as you can."
