TOMMY SAMPSON, who guided Kent League Deal to victory in the FA Vase final at Wembley in May, 2000, is recovering in Maidstone Hospital after suffering a stroke last week.
Sampson, 53, was rushed to hospital after being taken ill at his home at nearby Vinters Park on Wednesday.
His partner, Sandie said: "He's quite poorly and very emotional. For that reason only family are permitted to visit him.
"Though he has lost the use of his left side, doctors are confident he will make a full recovery.
"He's not lost his sense of humour and wants everyone to know that he's not a basket case.
"Those who have his mobile number are most welcome to text any messages of support, which he would greatly appreciate."
Sampson's last mangerial appointment in Kent was with Dartford. After leaving the club, he was appointed first team coach of Sussex County League Horsham YMCA and helped guide the club to promotion to the Ryman League, South Division.
He was appointed manager of Sussex County League, Division 1 Redhill at the start of the season.
